Avram Altman, LMSW, M.S.

I believe that people already have the capacity to move forward — sometimes it just takes the right support to help make that clearer.

I work with clients who are trying to better understand themselves, navigate challenges, and feel more in control of their lives — whether that’s related to anxiety, relationships, trauma, or major life transitions.

My approach is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to you. I draw from a range of therapeutic styles, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and insight-oriented work, to help you both understand patterns and make meaningful changes.

We’ll focus not just on why things feel the way they do, but also on how to shift them in a way that feels realistic and sustainable.

In our work together, my priority is to truly listen and create a space where you can speak openly — about both the easier and more difficult parts of your experience — without judgment. Whether you’re working through trauma, managing anxiety, processing grief, or feeling overwhelmed, we’ll work together to build clarity, resilience, and a stronger sense of direction. I also bring a background as a registered dietitian, with experience supporting clients around body image, disordered eating, and behavior change.

I also have experience working with civil servants, including law enforcement, military, and aviation professionals, helping individuals manage the unique stressors that come with high-pressure roles.

I earned my Master’s in Nutrition from New York University and my Master’s in Social Work from Arizona State University.

I work with:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • Grief & loss

  • Relationship challenges (individuals & couples)

  • Sexual identity

  • Body image & disordered eating

  • High-stress professions (law enforcement, military, aviation)
